Day 2
My gastronomic equations.

My gastronomic equations.

Day 2 was all about gas and discomfort. I learned through several Google searches that excess gas build-up in the stomach puts pressure on lower back nerves. The back pain and general bloatedness took me to the edge. But then I got some Gas-X and it was surprisingly effective!

The Original Soylent flavor came in and the flavor was not as bad as I anticipated. It's rich and oaty in taste. Texture was no different than Cacao. I was really hoping the flavor would be decent so that I could just buy Original and save 40 cents per serving. The journey continues.

Day 1
The only thing in my refrigerator.

The only thing in my refrigerator.

The taste of Cacao Soylent is great. It's like vitamins dissolved in chocolate soy milk. After my first bottle, I had some abdominal pains, but wrote it off as me adjusting to the drink. However, after my second bottle, I experienced the same pain followed by audible stomach gurgling... Maybe I'm soy intolerant? That would suck and put a damper on this whole experiment. Third bottle went down with less side effects. I'm hoping this "soy intolerance" will work itself out. I mean, humans are pretty adaptive right?

Having gone one day on Soylent (3 bottles), I definitely need to up the number of servings. I found myself feeling hungry a few hours after my last bottle. I think I'll up it to 4 bottles and see how that goes.

I'm trying that Soylent thing.

Follow me as I attempt to go from basically eating garbage to exclusively drinking Soylent. I've never made such a drastic change in diet, so I thought it'd be worth documenting.

Why?

Bottom line, I'm lazy and have grown tired of going through the routine of buying groceries and meal prepping. Also, the left side of my jaw started popping whenever I chew. It's driving Erin crazy, but I don't know how to fix it. I'm taking this opportunity to give my jaw a rest from 23 years of chewing food.

How?

I ordered two 12-packs of Soylent (Cacao and Original) and I'm going to drink it. I budgeted three bottles a day for a total of 1200 calories. Here's where I fucked up. I should've calculated my BMR (basal metabolic rate) before ordering any product because my body burns about 2591 calories a day as a baseline. I may struggle with feeling hungry, but I can start sipping a fourth serving if I really need it. I'm still going to try the three bottles a day with no snacks or solid food. The only other things I will be ingesting are water and black coffee.

Wish me luck!
